When you have to wake up early in the morning the last thing you want to do is run around your bedroom trying to find everything you need for the day. The bedroom can often become home to piles of laundry, household items without a place and other mess.

All this clutter can become a bit overwhelming and leave you feeling stressed in a room that should be for relaxing. Excess clutter in your bedroom can actually hinder a good night’s sleep ! So to declutter your room (and your mind) why not try some of these creative DIY storage ideas? This fun weekend activity will bring newfound space and organisation to your bedroom.

Here are some interesting DIY storage ideas for your bedroom to help you get started on your next DIY project.

1.Space Saving Clothes Dryer

If you don’t have access to an outdoor clothing line, then this minimalist clothes dryer is the way to go. It’s a more compact version of the standard indoor clothing dryer so it’s ideal for a small living room space.

The star design apparently allows for maximum air circulation and hanging space while being easy to fold up and store. It may not be a DIY project suited to a beginner but once you have a few under your belt you can tackle this one.

2. Under-Bed Storage

Using the space under your bed in an organized manner (not just throwing items under there) can save you a significant amount of space.

Try using roll out drawers for storing bed sheets, clothing and knick-knacks. It’s much easier to keep items organised this way. Simply attaching wheels to the bottom of old, wooden drawers will give you these rustic storage drawers.

Or just invest in a bed frame with built-in storage, like the one in the image below.

3. Wall Storage

Attaching storage units to your walls is the number one storage hack for small rooms. There are so many ways you can get creative with wall storage.

The possibilities of materials are endless: wood, woven baskets, mini shelves, metal boxes, fabric baskets, the list goes on and you can clearly adjust this to suit the aesthetic of each room.

In the bathroom, using ‘above the door’ wall storage is a life saver. The shelf can be home to items that you don’t frequently use such as extra towels, bath products or cleaning tools.

4. Magnetic Racks

Magnetic racks are a great way to store tweezers, nail scissors, hair clips or even your child’s tiny, metal cars. Attach a powerful magnet to a shelf or wall in your bedroom and clip on any metal items that you want easy access to or simply wish to have on display. Doing so can also be a great way to save space.

5. DIY Laundry Bag

To save money don’t buy a boring commercial laundry basket. Instead you can make one yourself!
Grab some old fabric and string and make your own laundry bag. You can then hang it on the back of your bathroom door for easy access. It will add a creative and personal feel to the bathroom.

...Now that you have some creative storage ideas why not start one of them today to get that little bit closer to having a fully organised bedroom. DIY storage can be a fantastic way to add a creative and personal touch to any room without completely renovating it.
