Lowbudget Garden Ideas

Lowbudget Garden Ideas

Spring is a good time of the year to do some gardening work. I've been thinking about some garden ideas for my small 'abandoned' courtyard without having to break my bank.

Here are some of ideas I have in mind for a small low-budget garden:

Herbs in containers

1. Container herb garden
If you have a small place, consider planting herbs in containers. They are easy to care, fulfilling (if you also love to cook with herbs) and most of all, save money from buying herbs in the store!

Vegetable garden

2. Vegetable garden
It has all the benefits and advantage of a herb garden except that vegetable garden may require a little more effort depending on the types of vegetable. You can plant them in the ground or use a raised bed garden. Tomato, lettuce leaf, and swiss chard are some good candidates for vegetable garden.

Border plants along the side path

3. Border garden
This is a great choice for places where it is surrounded by walls and concretes or simply to accentuate your garden. It helps to soften walls with various textures and colors of the plants. A border garden can also add some flair to path edges along the driveway or around the borders of the garden.

Creative way of using pots

4. Potted flower garden
Similar to a container herb garden, you can plant flowers in a pot if you prefer something colorful and visually more pleasing to the eyes than shades of green. Select an appropriate pot size for the type of flower you wish to plant. One of the advantages of potted flower garden is that the pots are easily moved around so you can rearrange the pots to suit your design.

Roses are great

Flowers also add fragrance to the surrounding making the place smells fresh. Annuals, perennials and shrubs are wonderful options to grow in pots.

Whichever type of garden you've chosen, just visit your local garden center and ask for some advice if you're in doubt. They have experts who are often willing to share their knowledge and help you to pick the right plants for your garden. This could easily help to save you a lot of money from consulting a landscaping professional.
