Whether it's in a living room or a bathroom, color is an easy way to brighten up your home and a fun way to express your creative personality.

If you are risk averse or have fear of bold colors, start small by adding decorative items in bright colors instead of painting an entire wall in pink or shocking red (for example).

Red

Red
Red exudes confidence and strength. Painting a wall red is a statement by itself. It reflects energy and the zest for life. Turn the kitchen and dining area into a lively and vibrant space by adding kitchenware or dining ware in hues of red.

Yellow
Create a cheerful and sunny disposition by using this happy color in the living room. Decorate the space with yellow vases and decorative display. While this color may not be suitable for bedroom walls as expert suggested that the brightness may disrupt sleep, you can still add a hint of yellow with pillow case in a darker hue.

Light green cushion pillow

Green
Nothing beats green for a fresh and natural look at home. A pale green wall is not only soothing to the eyes but also brings a sense of harmony and peacefulness. Alternatively, accessorize with throws, rugs or cushion pillows in shades of green.

Art work and home ware in blue

Blue
This color has a calming effect besides creating an illusion of distance inside the house. Painting the wall in light blue is a great way to make a small space looks bigger and spacious. Otherwise, add bits and pieces of blue decoration against a neutral wall color as focal point. An interesting piece of artwork in blue tone may also help to achieve the calming effect.

Try to experiment with different colors by adding small objects in your home. For example, blue for winter cool, yellow for a summery feel, orange and brown tone for autumn and perhaps green for spring. It works well for home with neutral palette walls.

Have fun playing around with colors and find what's best for your style.
